AUSTIN, Texas (August 6, 2013) — Clinical laboratories in the U.S. and around the globe are using Process Improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality management systems and methods with great success. To foster greater exchange of ideas and best practice achievements,  Lab Quality Confab is providing the opportunity for lab practitioners of quality management to submit an abstract of their process improvement or Lean/Six Sigma project—and upon acceptance— to receive an invitation to present that project at the Poster Presentation Sessions to be conducted  at the 7th Annual Lab Quality Confab and Performance Improvement Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 1-2, 2013.

Now in its seventh year, Lab Quality Confab is the best-attended meeting in the clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology industry.

“This is a great opportunity for presenters to display their laboratory organization’s quality improvement efforts to the most enthusiastic  quality practitioners in laboratory medicine from around the world,” said Robert L. Michel, founder of Lab Quality Confab and Editor-In-Chief  of The Dark Report. “Through this forum, innovative ideas will be shared with industry professionals who are actively seeking solutions and approaches to work flow redesign and process improvement that they can take back and use in their own laboratories. The new friendships and professional relationships formed as a consequence these poster presentations will certainly be beneficial to the advancement of professional skills in process improvement and quality management.”

With the objective being to cultivate collaborations among executives, administrators, and everyone working in hospitals, health systems, and clinical laboratories interested in quality management methods and systems, poster topics will include recognized philosophies, methodologies, and techniques used in process improvement and quality management systems like Lean, Six Sigma, ISO, and others, and may deal with pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical work flow.

Posters will be available for viewing by Lab Quality Confab attendees beginning at 7:00 AM on the first day of the event. Posters will be presented on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 1 and 2. Poster presenters are eligible to receive a discount on their conference registration fee, and in addition to recognition for their lab, can win up to $1000 for their organization.
