AUSTIN, Texas (April 8, 2016) — Nearly all clinical labs and pathology groups now feel the double squeeze of shrinking budgets and less reimbursement from health insurers. As a result, innovative laboratories are taking steps to cut costs while at the same time developing lab testing services that deliver more value to physicians, patients, and payers.

“The goals of cutting costs and adding value can be pursued simultaneously by clinical labs,” said Robert L. Michel, Editor-in-Chief of The Dark Report. “One excellent example of this duality in cutting costs while adding value can be seen at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, where the clinical laboratory and department of anatomic pathology have identified multiple ways that labs can add value.”

In an all-new webinar, “Boosting the Value of Lab Testing Services: Lessons from Effective Clinical Collaborations with Physicians and the Lab Team at Henry Ford Health,” being presented Thursday, April 14 at 1 PM EDT, listeners will have the opportunity to engage with two innovative lab leaders from Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, and learn what is working and why.

The presenters for this webinar are two innovative lab leaders from Henry Ford Health: Gaurav Sharma, M.D., Chair, Director, Regional Laboratory, Associate Medical Director, Core Laboratory, and Ilan S. Rubinfeld, M.D., MBA, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Wayne State University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. These distinguished presenters will discuss the value-creation steps webinar participants can take, that can pay huge dividends in terms of their laboratory’s contribution to the parent health system, their physician clients, and patients.

Just some of the valuable information to be presented during this 90-minute webinar:

  • How choosing the right test can reduce length-of-stay, yielding positive results for the patient, and savings for the system
  • How to draft a framework and a process to collaborate with clinicians and engage other key stakeholders in hospital IT, finance and medical leadership
  • Opportunities for reducing unintended or unnecessary OR, inpatient, and specialty clinic testing
  • Addressing and overcoming the barriers to a lab’s value-creation plan, and much more!

As an extra value-added benefit of this webinar, the end of the session will be opened up for a live Q&A.
