AUSTIN, Texas (April 30, 2014) – Clinical diagnostic laboratories and pathology groups are facing a dramatically tougher economic environment than ever before. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) has implemented significant changes that will require labs to achieve greater efficiencies and accountability while lowering costs and sustaining quality. The shift from fee-for-service to pay-for-performance is well underway and will add even more pressure to medical laboratories already facing significant competition.
Historically it has been difficult for laboratories to gain a clear, real-time picture of each provider relationship coupled with rich healthcare intelligence in order to optimize performance. Many medical laboratories have focused solely on internal clinical efficiencies and embraced systems to facilitate the accurate reporting of test results. However, capturing clinical data is not enough in order to thrive within the value-based environment. The new formula for success requires labs to focus, drive action, and ensure accountability within every department.
“Healthcare reform and other modifications to reimbursement are creating a dynamic and unpredictable environment for laboratories and pathologists to run their businesses,” says Robert L. Michel, Editor-In-Chief of The Dark Report. “If clinical laboratories want to stay competitive, they need to leverage enormous caches of business and clinical data they generate.”
The Dark Report is delighted to offer a recently published FREE White Paper, “A Laboratory Executive’s Guide to Intelligently Reducing Costs While Achieving Operational Excellence and Superior Client Service: Using the Healthcare Relationship Cloud™ to Remain Competitive in Today’s Environment.” Published by The Dark Report and Dark Daily, it is available free to laboratory professionals as a PDF download.
Along with other topics, this FREE White Paper specifically addresses:
• Obstacles to efficiency and relationship management
• The new formula for ongoing laboratory success
• Key elements to sustaining clinical laboratory quality
• The economics of the cloud
• Three case studies of laboratories that have reduced costs and increased efficiency while achieving operational excellence
The paper’s author, Mark Terry, is a content matter expert on the clinical diagnostic laboratory industry. He has written dozens of white papers, articles, and market research reports about various aspects of healthcare, clinical laboratories, and biotechnology. Prior to venturing out as a writer and editor, he worked in clinical and research genetics at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He is a member of the Association of Genetic Technologists and the Association of Health Care Journalists.
